Fans of variegated aloes are in for a rare treat. We're thrilled to offer a variegated, stripe-heavy form of Aloe 'Hercules', a hybrid of two tree aloes, Aloe barberae and A. dichotoma. Your plant will arrive fully rooted in a 3.5"" pot but has a bright future ahead of it as a sculptural statement plant in the garden or as a focal specimen in a decorative container. Our variegated Aloe 'Hercules' sports an eye-catching combo of blue-green and yellow, each leaf marked by a series of stripes. The variegation may vary somewhat from plant to plant. This aloe features thick, long, toothed leaves that taper to points. The foliage grows in tight, upright rosette fashion, developing a stem as it ages. In time this stem will become a trunk or trunk-like component of a shrub- or tree-sized aloe. Also, after so many years the plant produces tubular flowers characteristic of aloes, salmon-pink hummingbird magnets tipped in green. In the ground, regular Aloe 'Hercules' carries the potential to tower 40 feet, so figure on a height somewhere south of there with your variegated Aloe 'Hercules'. Even so, keep future height and spread in mind when choosing a location in your garden. Keeping it as a potted plant will put a lid on its height potential. Provide full to part sun, with afternoon shade recommended away from the coast. Little supplemental water needed once established. You can fertilize the plant every couple of months during spring and summer to encourage growth.
