HOW TO GROW ECHINACEA PURPUREA
Sow directly in the fall or indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Amend soil with limestone. Plant out directly or pot up once or twice enhances root development. Easiest propagation is by division. Clumps can be divided in spring or autumn. Pencil sized root cuttings will develop into when when started in late autumn or early winter, lay down lengthwise. Basal shoot cuttings may be rooted in the spring when treated with rooting hormone. Reduce weed competition to enhance root production for medicine. Read more about growing on our web site. If direct seeding, sow five times more seed than each plant needed in spring or autumn. If you want 10 plants you need 50 seeds. Controlling weeds is difficult with direct sowing because the plants are very small until well established and require hand weeding. Don’t fertilize until plants are established in mid-July to not stimulate weed growth. There are about 117,000 seeds per pound of Echinacea purpurea. You will need 30,000 to 40,000 plants per acre. Plants transplant well if watered-in with water transplanter or by hand. Once established, echinaceas thrive with little care, are drought tolerant and do not favor highly enriched soil. Good drainage is essential, will not tolerate wet soils. Per acre, 1,500 pounds of dry foliage the second and third year is a good crop and 1,200 pounds of roots is good at the end of the third year. About 1/2 pound of fresh root per dormant plant. Concentrate on growing strong Echinacea plants the first year. Harvest foliage “the herb’ the second and third growing season without hurting root production very much. Harvest and dehydrate root in the autumn of the third year. Harvest foliage like hay, cut, swath, sun dry and bale. For the highest quality herb cut and dehydrate it at 120˚F to 10 percent moisture content, then bale, put in burlap bag and sew shut. Roots maybe dug and harvested by hand, you may loose the bottom few inches. To harvest the most root, run a tractor pulled sub-soil knife with long bars behind it to raise the soil several inches and pop the roots up a bit, then dig with a modified field potato digger. Take to rotary washer, dry at 120˚F until less than 10 percent moisture. Put in burlap bag, weight and sew shut. If you hand dig a field, you may see 15-20 percent root grow-back the next spring. Soil pH 6.1-7.0. Hardiness zones 3-10. Perennial.
Days from maturity calculated from the date of seeding. Average 3,300 seeds per ounce Usual seed life: best fresh 1st year, but remains viable up to 7 years if refrigerated. Do not save first year seed, 2% germination rate. Good seed crops from second or third year seed, up to 100 pounds of seed per acre.

##Echinacea purpurea is the easiest species to grow, and is most adaptable. By choosing to plant purpurea, one takes the pressure off wild populations of E. angustifolia and others. Medicinally, use the plant at the early stage of any infection, primarily for the prevention or treatment of cold and flu symptoms. Echinacea speeds the immune system response by up to 24 hours. Blood purifier. Long lasting for cut or dry flowers, sturdy and prolific, grows to 47” tall by 20” wide. Cone-shaped flower heads and drooping flower petals are usually light purple in the wild. Some flower debris is included with seed. Also known as eastern purple coneflower or purple coneflower. Native to eastern North America and present to some extent in the Midwest United States. Its habitats include dry open woods, prairies and barrens. Echinacea is a genus of nine plant species in the aster family native to North America. Echinacea species were used by native groups for medicinal purposes than any other plant. Best ever
Flavor Name: Banana Bread, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’ve tried a few others brands. This one is the best. I’ve drank flavored coffee for years. Banana bread is 10 star worthy, rich in flavor and it doesn’t take a lot. Very smooth. I like it alot. I’m not looking for another brand because I already know where it’s good. I don’t mess around with my coffee ☕️ 🍌 🌰 🍞

Try it in a carrot cake, it is yummy!!!
Flavor Name: Chai Tea Concentrate, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have without question been extremely happy with all of the DaVinci syrups, and products I have purchased. This chai syrup really was perfect for making chai lattes for my wife, and adding some chai flavor to other drinks, and I even used it in some cheesecake frosting, and inside of a carrot cake recipe, and it was perfect. I strongly suggest that you try it in carrot cake, and in other things like frosting. The chai carrot cake I made ended up being the perfect compliment to a nice cappuccino. I made a bunch of cupcakes using the carrot cake mix with the chai, and the chai cream cheese frosting, and with a nice coffee made the coffee taste better, and the carrot cake complimented the coffee perfectly. I have made them a few times now, and will say don't overdo and put too much frosting onto the carrot cake, and it is something I can't recommend enough. I actually have been using it more it making baked goods, and little desserts more then for chai lattes even. It just really works perfectly in them.

Comparing to the coffee giant version
Flavor Name: Brown Sugar, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Flavor Name: Brown Sugar, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Starbucks comparison (from a personal standpoint): I’m fortunate enough to have a bottle of Starbucks Brown Sugar. Problem is, I’m almost out. Looking around at some alternative options, and reading the reviews- I see some saying this is a good substitute. Because I happen to have the syrup on hand, I figured I should see if it is, because it would be great given the low cost of DaVinci syrup. This picture I’m attaching is just to see the color difference.
Consistency wise, the DaVinci syrup is much lighter, more runny. The Starbucks is definitely a thicker liquid, that runs much slower.
Flavor is the big one: DaVinci is lighter on taste, and sweeter. The best way to describe the flavor is comparing DaVinci’s to 100% real maple syrup that’s been diluted down with water. It’s good, but not really similar (in my opinion) to Starbucks Brown Sugar. Starbucks is more smokey in flavor, more strong/bold.
My drinks are made using espresso, oak milk, cinnamon powder, and ice. I made my drink the same way, but used DaVinci Syrup this time. I found that the same amount of syrup that I use for the Starbucks, didn’t feel like it had a strong enough flavor. What did I do? I added an extra ounce of DaVinci hoping to get a stronger flavor. The problem is, DaVinci is more sweet than the Starbucks syrup (in my opinion) and ended up making my drink taste too sweet. It’s sweet enough that I’m not going to finish drinking it.
I’m not knocking the DaVinci syrup itself. I think it’s a good brand and a good flavor. It’s just not the flavor I was hoping would solve my issue for a Starbucks imitation. I would encourage anyone to still try this syrup, but do so to enjoy it for being its own flavor.

Almost tastes like chocolate milk!
Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 11.5 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
I usually dislike protein drinks. But I need It, and this one actually almost tastes like chocolate milk. I’ve tried the other flavors of this brand, and for me, this is the least protein tasting one. Banana came close.
