Purple Fountain Grass, more commonly known as Rubrum, is a great way to provide color to your landscape. Rubrum will produce rose red flower spikes from mid-summer to Fall. In areas where the temperature falls below 20°F this plant should be treated as an annual, but in warmer climates expect this grass to fade to brown in late Fall. You will then need to cut it back and wait until mid-Spring when it will sprout back up for another year of foliage and blooms. This Purple Fountain Grass plant is notably tolerant of drought and deters certain pests such as deer.
