This sheer kimono dress gown with a matching string belt is upcycled from a vintage Japanese silk kimono.

The fabric is sha (紗), a traditional summer silk distinguished by its beautiful transparency.

You can loosely tie the belt and wear it as loungewear, or style it as a dress gown.

This one-of-a-kind piece was carefully crafted by my sewing team and me. Our designer is a 1st Grade Certified Japanese Kimono Dressmaker (一級和裁士), based in Yamagata, Japan.

I personally handpicked this kimono in very good condition for a vintage garment.

There are two types of Japanese kimonos traditionally worn in the summer: "ro" and "sha." Both are made of silk. (Some recent ones have synthetic fibers. ) Kimono fabrics of "ro" and "sha" are sheer and beautiful.

This fabric is "sha."
It features a beautiful transparent material.
